Abstract

Building up and growing a business involves consistent development of the main business processes, including the creation of organizational structures that make it possible to implement a company's strategic advantages. This case study describes the development of a training system in a large manufacturing company. Starting with the training in functional areas, the company saw a need to centralize its training and staff development processes and to develop a new system focusing on the creation and transfer of common corporate values, the integrity of orientation training and knowledge sharing.

The case study is intended for MBA and Master’s courses in Human Resources Management, Personnel Training and Development. The case has several educational purposes:

  • To show, by example, the main principles of staff training and development theory concerning the creation of organizational training systems;
  • To outline the problems of the creation of a staff training and development system in a large and rapidly developing manufacturing company;
  • To help students master skills in evaluating the staff training and development system of a large company by defining its advantages and disadvantages with respect to the organizational tasks;
