This case can be discussed either in a policy class or in an accounting class at the MBA level. In a policy class, students can discuss the manager's role and his/her decision making in the company or within a work group. In an accounting class, students are introduced to the different aspects of a career in accounting. Becoming a C.G.A. opens the door leading from pure accounting to management. The case describes Sylvie Voghel's journey from her first job as an auditor at Hydro-Québec to her managing position at Enveloppe Concept, a family-run concern.
