En juin 2016, Tangente, un acteur majeur de la danse contemporaine à Montréal, propose à des artistes de se former au financement participatif en vue d’ajouter une corde à leur arc et de diversifier leurs sources de financement. Le cas relate l’expérience de la jeune chorégraphe Natacha Filiatrault dans sa quête d’un appui financier pour deux œuvres : Pavlov et Stanford. On y démystifie le travail qui sous-tend une campagne de financement participatif, un outil à la mode et souvent perçu comme une solution magique.

In June 2016, Tangente, a major player in Montreal’s contemporary dance scene, invited artists to train in crowdfunding to add a new tool to their arsenal and diversify their funding sources. The case recounts the experience of young choreographer Natacha Filiatrault in her quest for financial support for two works: Pavlov and Stanford. It demystifies the work that goes into a crowdfunding campaign, a popular tool often seen as a silver bullet.
