Editor's note

We are pleased to present the latest issue of the IJCSM, which focuses on strategy and general management.

In line with its mission to highlight case studies about a wide range of organizations, our summer issue begins with three cases about “non-traditional” organizations: first, a case (in both French and English) produced by Joseph Facal, Sébastien Arcand, and Véronique Labelle about Futbol Club Barcelona, one of the most prestigious football clubs in the world (“FC Barcelona: ‘més que un club’”), followed by two cases produced by Sébastien Boutonnet and Serge Poisson-de Haro about the circus industry (“Mettre le cirque en vitrine… festivalière” et “MONTRÉAL COMPLÈTEMENT CiRQUE : un festival qui voit grand!”).

Large international companies have not been forgotten, however, as shown by the next three cases. The first (in English), produced by Dietmar Sternad, concerns a major European electronic manufacturing services (EMS) company (“Market Expansion at cms electronics”). The second (also in English) concerns Air Canada and its Aeroplan program (“Air Canada: What to Do with Aeroplan?”) and was produced by Andrew Papadopoulos and Louis Hébert. The next case (in French) “De la motoneige au transport sur rail : les débuts de la diversification de Bombardier,” produced by Joseph Facal, describes Bombardier’s first attempts to diversify into the rail transport industry.

The issue wraps up with a case by Carl-Ardy Dubois, Xavier Parent-Rocheleau, Jean-Luc Bédard, Kathleen Bentein, and Frédéric Gilbert on work organization and change management in the health care industry (“L’intégration des infirmières auxiliaries dans les équipes de soins à domicile au CSSS Beauchemin : les défis de l’implantation.”)

We are also proud to announce the expansion of the agreement between the IJCSM and Harvard Business Publishing: from now on, all English cases published in the Journal will also be distributed by Harvard Business Publishing, offering them international visibility.
