Résumé

Judy is a very reserved and shy employee who is not keen on attending social activities at work. A game of bowling and dinner with the team are scheduled to take place in two weeks. Judy has yet to confirm her participation. After taking a quick look over the daily calendars of her team, Sarah, her new manager, abruptly goes to see her to inquire why she has not yet confirmed her attendance. Judy informs her that she is shy and is still thinking about taking part. Sarah insists that Judy attend social events as she appears to face challenges at the interpersonal level. Judy asks whether social activities are a mandatory part of her work. Sarah responds that these activities are very important and would help her to be a good team player. Judy stresses that although she has never attended any social activities, her performance has been above average. Sarah stresses that working on Judy’s interpersonal skills is necessary, but Judy argues that she goes to work to do her job, not to socialize with colleagues.
