Family Against Violence (FAV): Battling Gender Violence in Mexico

Case number : 9 40 2026 005
Date :  2026-09-07
Teaching notes included :  Yes
Abstract

This case depicts a conversation between Natalia and Arizai, the two founders of Family Against Violence (FAV), as they prepare a pitch for Professor Iliana León Huesca, the Veracruz mayor’s representative, in order to secure important support from the Mexican government. FAV and one other organization were selected from regional nominees to give a detailed presentation on the potential impact of their work. However, only one organization will receive government support. Professor Huesca called the meeting at the last minute, leaving the founders with little time to refine their presentation and strategy. Receiving her approval would give FAV an excellent launchpad for its business and increase its chances of winning an award at the Social Business Creation competition organized by HEC Montréal (Canada) in collaboration with Nobel Laureate Prof. Muhammad Yunus, not to mention the visibility that would come with it.
